We have used a variety of online animation and
video clips to try to give you a glimpse of the type of motion
created by my sculptures. The limitations of transfer speed
have made it impossible to portray all the variations of motion
produced by these intricate machines. Of course the best way
to see my work is in person but if thats not possible
the second best way is to view the new Wood That Works video.
Each year we try to improve the video, to make it a little more
informative and entertaining. This year we've finally acquired
the equipment to edit video using the computer. Marji convinced
me that I now had no more excuses and I had to show my face
and speak a few bit parts. I must say it's a humbling experience!
My appreciation for folks who perform on camera has skyrocketed.
Shown at left are frames captured from the video. After a short
introduction by yours truly we show each of this year's sculptures
along with one or two close ups. I close the video with a "Comments
from David" section where I try to explain such things
as how to install a sculpture, what a "negator spring"
is, how to wind a sculpture and of course answer the age old
question of where I get my ideas.
The video is only available as a DVD.
The DVD is available for $10.
